Overview

BITS 2009 is the Seventh Annual Meeting of the Bioinformatics Italian Society (BITS).
The meeting is open to contributions from the Italian bioinformatics community and from scientists with an interest in bioinformatics. Bioinformaticians from all over the world are welcome as well.

The workshop is organized in plenary sessions and posters sessions. Invited speakers will present some of the latest achievements and interesting developments in the field and a number of submissions will be accepted for oral presentations and posters on all topics.


BITS 2009 Call for Papers

Topics

Submitted contributions should address novel bioinformatics methods, algorithms, databases, tools and applications for research and development in one or more of the following domains:

  • Genomics
  • Molecular Evolution
  • Protein structure and function
  • Proteomics
  • Transcriptomics
  • Gene expression
  • Biological Interaction Networks and Pathways
  • Systems Biology
  • In-silico drug design
  • Clinical Bioinformatics
  • Bio-ontologies
This list is not meant to be exclusive of any further topics as stated above.

Type of contributions

The following contributions are sought:

  • Abstracts for oral communications
  • Abstracts for posters
All accepted contributions will be published in the Abstracts Book, that will be available at the meeting.
The Abstracts Book will be officially published and will have an associated ISBN number.

  • CLOSED Oral communications submission
  • NEW! February 17, 2009, 7.00 PM (GMT+1): Posters submission
  • NEW! February 19, 2009: Early registration (discounted fees)
  • March 18 - 20, 2009: Workshop and Tutorials

Instructions

Abstracts must be submitted through the BITS 2009 Abstracts submission form.
All abstracts must be written in English.
Abstracts must be structured in the following sections: Motivation, Methods, Results.
Abstracts' length cannot be greater than 5,000 characters (spaces included) or 4,000 characters (spaces included) when a figure is also included.

Best presentations of previous BITS Meetings have been published in a BMC Bioinformatics Supplement devoted to the event. Past supplements include:

Since BMC BIoinformatics is not going to publish meetings' proceedings anymore, organizers are seeking an internationally peer-reviewed journal to publish a Supplement on BITS 2009. Such issue would publish extended versions of best oral communications and posters as full papers.
To this end, a special Call for Papers, limited to authors of BITS 2009 accepted submissions, should be issued shortly after the meeting.
